Imagine a painting truly popping out of the canvas well now it can thanks to HMG Paints new 3D Clearcoat. Manchester based HMG Paints Ltd, the UK’s largest independent paint manufacturer, has shown once again it’s a market leader in innovation, with the release of its 3D paint/coating. The development of HMG’s 3D paint, comes hot on the heels of last year’s range of Tartan Paints.
The 3D coating which utilises nano-technology to achieve the 3D effect and bring the coating alive on the substrate will be available in a range of colours including BS, RAL and Pantone and also in a clear which can be used over existing paint or paintings. HMG Paints Marketing Manager Stephen Dyson said, “The new 3D coatings is very exciting and shows HMG’s commitment to innovation once again, the 3D technology can be used to overcoat existing paint and paintings without damaging them and using any 3D glasses can be used to bring a new dimension to paintings. Imagine walking around a gallery and having paintings such as the Mona Lisa and Sunflowers by Van Gogh coming off the canvas.”
Over the last 18 months 3D has revolutionised the way we watch movies, TV and read magazines and other media, starting with the massive success of Avatar, and the ever increasing popularity of sport in 3D. HMG Paints feel the coating could prove to be a massive success in the market place. The new 3D paint will be available in a range of colours and sizes direct from HMG Paints and some selected distributors. “The idea came from a member of our team who was painting a scene on his son’s bedroom and was thinking of ways to truly bring it alive. So from a small idea the technical team in the lab have developed a product that’s easy to use and can bring a previously bland wall to life, so far we have seen it used on a jungle scene and a football scene with both results truly remarkable, along with the fact the Clearcoat can be used over any existing paint means that the potential market is massive.” Said HMG’s Stephen Dyson.
