VHT Resistant Powder

890 SERIES

An exterior durable powder coating specially designed to withstand high temperatures in the range 250-600°C. Possible uses for the product include: • Gas barbeques • Heat exchangers • Exhaust piping • Cookware Application Details: The system has been designed for electrostatic application. A version for Tribo application is available on request. The product achieves best results when sprayed to a dry film thickness (DFT) of 40µm (microns) or less. A thicker film results in a steady reduction in the adhesion properties of the coating. Care should be taken in the choice of pre-treatment used as the pretreatment itself may degrade at higher temperatures.

Data Sheets

Technical Properties

Coverage

From 10 – 14 m2/kg at 50 microns film thickness.

Storage

Store between 5°C - 25°C. When not in use, cans must be kept sealed

Shelf Life

Store in a dry, cool (<20ºC) environment – 6 months.

Additional Technical Information

General
All tests carried out on degreased and zinc phosphated steel at a coating thickness of 40 microns. Mechanical properties, especially impact resistance, will improve with full curing conditions.

Heat Resistance
260°C for 3 hours – excellent adhesion
400°C for 2 hours – good adhesion†
500°C for 2 hours – excellent adhesion
600°C for 2 hours – excellent adhesion
Please note that the poorer adhesion at 400°C is due to sintering occurring
between 400 and 420°C.

Curing Information

Normal Cure: 30 minutes at 230ºC (Object Temperature). N.B. Full cure will only be achieved when the coating reaches higher temperatures in use. The curing schedule above will allow handling without loss of adhesion, etc.

Corrosion Resistance

Neutral Salt Spray (ASTM B117)
More than 500 hours with creepage of corrosion less than
2mm from scribe mark.
Resistance to Mortar (ASTM C 207)
Easy to remove. No staining
