The toolkit is designed to encourage MPs to deliver Apprenticeship Fairs in their local constituencies, it offers a range of practical support on holding an Apprenticeships Fair and encourages MPs to involve local organisations across all sectors and sizes. The toolkit has been launched during Apprenticeship Week to celebrate successful apprenticeships and create awareness around the subject.
Melissa Strowbridge, Business Apprentice at Salford University commented on her visit to Parliament “I had a great day meeting MPs and discussing degree level apprenticeships. I think it was beneficial for them to speak to people going through an apprenticeship right now to gain an insight into the benefits for both the apprentices and the employer. I am really grateful to Salford University and HMG Paints Ltd for this opportunity.”
Charlotte Morris, Public Affairs Manager at the University of Salford, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to spend the day with Melissa, who is a credit to herself and to HMG Paints. Her passion for apprenticeships and for her job is clear to see, and I have no doubt that came across to the MPs, Peers and other stakeholders that attended the apprentice fair.”
“The University of Salford is proud to work with HMG Paints, which is a fantastic local and family owned business that really invests in people. We will continue to work with HMG Paints and other industry partners to advocate for apprenticeships through the All-Party Parliamentary Group.”
Encouraging personal development has always been fundamental to HMG’s culture and growth, and home-grown talent through apprenticeships has proven to be very beneficial to the business as well as the individual. Working with Universities such as Salford University on apprenticeships for a wide variety of roles across the business including Business Administration, R&D and Product Manufacturing, has seen generations of staff members succeed throughout their careers at HMG.
