Easterby Trailers, in partnership with HMG Paints Ltd and Supertune Automotive Ltd, were proud to exhibit a spectacular, dark green, metallic, 12-tonne trailer at the LAMMA Show and Yorkshire Agricultural Machinery Show to kick off the year in sparkling fashion.

The project to paint this speciality trailer is the result of a flourishing relationship between Easterby Trailers and coatings distributor, Supertune, with HMG Paints, the UK’s largest independent industrial coatings manufacturer, providing hands-on support throughout. HMG Paints’ products, supplied by Supertune, now allow Easterby Trailers to produce an excellent standard of finish on their trailers. Not only are these finishes aesthetically impressive, they are also so reliable that the Driffield based trailer manufacturers now offer a warranty on the durability of the paint coatings.

Supertune are an approved HMG Paints distributor and have four branches across the country providing coatings expertise to a wide range of customers. As a distributor, Supertune outlets have access to their own in-house UNIT LITE tinting systems. This allows them to provide customers with an array of products whilst tapping into HMG’s vast colour library, boasting over 20,000 different colour formulations, including RAL, BS, Pantone, OEM, commercial fleet, agricultural machinery and house shades.

This exceptional colour knowledge was exploited to the fullest when selecting a topcoat colour for the prestige show trailer. In consultation with HMG’s colour and styling specialists, who are experienced in designing colours for prestigious show cars, a distinctive dark green metallic colour was chosen, producing a dazzling finish.

HMG’s fast drying, ultra durable EP2 Epoxy Primer was used to prime the metal, before the dark green, metallic topcoat was applied. HMG’s XSC clearcoat was then applied to achieve a high gloss, chemical resistant, anti-graffiti finish to the body of the trailer, whilst the internal surface was coated with HMG’s innovative topcoat, Monothane, providing a direct to metal, high gloss finish, with excellent adhesion.

Providing quick response, onsite technical support and advice to distributors and customers is an essential aspect of HMG Paints’ service offering. At Easterby Trailers, Martyn Binnington, HMG Paints’ General Manager of CT & Distribution, and Jim Pearson, Supertune’s Business Manager, worked closely with owners, Peter and Dean, to devise a suitable, bespoke working process platform for coatings application, surface protection and durability. As a result, Easterby Trailers now benefit from an enhanced aesthetic appearance and improved durability on their trailers as well as achieving dramatic cost savings on wastage and downtime on application.
