HMG suggest the following precautions are followed when sanding or abrading painted surfaces including 2K systems:
Respiratory Protection
Use of a respirator that meets the performance requirements of the draft European Standard pr EN405 FFA1P1 for valved filtering half mask respirators, for gases or gases and particulate combinations. The respirator should be at least 78% efficient against particulates down to 0.5 micron and offer protection up to 4X the Occupational Exposure Limit of Particulate Hazard. 3M can offer guidance on the selection of such a respirator and have a free helpline on 0800-525385.
Protection of Hands
Gloves, which are impermeable and resistant to the product, should be worn. The selection of suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of quality and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.
Eye Protection
Tightly sealed goggles should be worn.
General Protective and Hygienic Measures
Wash hands before breaks and at the end of work
Remove all soiled and contaminated clothing
Store all protective clothing and personal equipment in a separate area
